Sigur Ros’ Glosoli Video

An amazingly beautiful video for Glosoli, from the new Sigur Ros album, Takk. Totally transporting. Apparently this is included on the DVD with the new album.

Sigur Ros is some form of future drug. I came across this video and impulse-bought two of their albums which I have now had on repeat for the past month and a half. Painful, beautiful, truthful sounds. Enough to make you want to visit Iceland!

I absolutely love this video. All of these children, each one different from the other, coming together to fly away. It's beautiful.

I can't believe how beautiful this video is. It's brought me to tears. I'm not sure why. (I've also told my brother that these albums are what I want for Christmas.)

This group never ceases to amaze me and their surreal videos perfectly match their music. To me this video portrayed the innocence, hope, imagination, frailty and spirit of children. The director really captured the essence of this sadly beautiful song.

Yeah this video pretty much made me run out to sunrise records and buy the disc with this video on the DVD... I showed my mom and she cried too.

I lived in Iceland when I was a child. The landscape and the colors they captured along with the fantasy... breathless. This is the magic of iceland that I will always remember.

It's addictive. Both Sigur Ros music and videos. A couple of months ago I was wondering what's the next wave. Now I'm riding it.

Sigur ros just astound me! I love lots of different music, but none of it touches your heart like this! The video is so beautiful there is not a word in the english language that covers it.. the color, the emotion, the sound, you have to see it and hear it to understand it!

The amazing thing is, Sigur Ros are still only a young band (formed in 1994.) They still have a big future in front of them, and the potential to make great music. Still, I can't imagine them ever reaching Coldplay levels of popularity, which is perhaps just as well. It adds to their mystique, that Sigur Ros is a little bit obscure.

A poster said Sigur Ros has given him inspiration to visit Iceland. They also inspired me to go to Iceland -- and I went there, in 2003. There is now a cheap airline flying from Europe to Iceland (I have seen flights advertised for as low as US$100! return) If you live on the American side of the pond maybe it is a little pricier getting to Iceland. But if you go there, you will find it is just as cool as you imagine it to be. I am going back in June 2006 to check up on the local music scene.

There is plenty of free Icelandic music available on the Internet -- check out http://www.rokk.is/ and http://www.jon.is/ and Smekkleysa for tons of MP3s made by Icelandic groups. It is hard to believe that a country so small (300,000 people) has produced so much talent and like dozens and dozens of good bands. It must be something in the Nordic genes!

There's more cool scenery for Iceland-o-philes in the video for "Desire" by Gus Gus.

OMG - simply beautiful. I heard Sigur Ros for the first time the other night - and I didn't realise this was a single or had a video - but when I heard it - I was just so overcome with emotion... now having seen the video - it's even more special!

Brilliant.

I couldn't agree more, this is one of the most uplifting videos I have ever seen, and I think Sigur Ros have a nack for good videos. One moment which was quite haunting though was how the little boy at the end appeared to merely jump off the cliff and not fly like the others, though the video didn't seem to come back to that. Maybe that it was suggested was enough. I think there was also some brilliant acting from those children, which just added to the atmosphere.

Brilliant Video, Brilliant Band.

If you love Sigur Ros, listen to Mum. Or Amina. Or basically any band that comes from Iceland. For some reason, maybe the atmosphere, the music always strikes a nerve.

There's also a documentary about this called "Screaming Masterpiece" that you should look into. And buy the soundtrack.

Sigur Ros is great in every way. If someone wants to go to Iceland, it is worth mentioning that you can go with transport ships. Two friends of mine are going this summer from Rotterdam Port. It's way cheaper then a plane.
