Hi, I’m Billy Harvey

"Hey how's it goin'? My new record's out. It's called Pie. You can get it at the store if you want… you click Store, or somethin' like that…" No pressure dude, just chill at Billy Harvey's web site and follow him around his place, listen to a song or two. Sick site by Sofake.

Hi everybody! You have to check this web site... sofake did in incredible show for the great Billy!

Billy's music is a dream come true... his new cd is called Pie and as he says : I am soon going to be a big star! ...so don't miss it, but don't forget the past stuff either... 'more than happy' and 'Toast' are rich albums... some of his songs are funny, most are melancolic... he is also a wonderful producer, he has worked with his good friend Bob Schneider on 'I'm good now'... they are touring right now and I invite you to check Bob's website to catch them in your town! Don't miss them...

Billy has his cds while touring with the band, so you could fall in love with his words right there and then too!

Peace.

Don't know if my last post attempt went through, but I wanted to let you all know that Billy Harvey will be playing at Platinum X on 6th Street in Austin, on March 17th at 9pm. The show is free for SXSW badge holders and $8 for the rest of us.

Thanks for posting the location and time. I will be heading over there in a few minutes. I met Billy Sunday night at the SXSW Intereactive Web Awards. He won the best Music site.

A friend sent me a link six months ago to the site and I spent a day trying to figure out all the tricks the webmaster used... I am glad I got to shake his hand Sunday.

Will try to remember to post here about how the show goes... I loved the tracks I downloaded from his site.

Be well,

Carl

Wow... Billy did a great job at Platinum X. Smallish crowd but everyone thought he was great. The set was really short... but the band was kicking by the second song. The only problem was it was too short. They play twice again tomarrow...

Noon @ Swerve
2310 S Lamar Blvd
Austin, TX 78704
(512) 444-1000

3pm @ Pink Hair Salon & Gallery
1204 S Congress Ave
Austin, TX 78704
(512) 447-2888

I know... a hair salon, but its a very cool hair salon. Gotta love it. (Last year I saw a great band at a pet store on Congress.) So much music in austin this week that every place with electricity is a venue. And the best places are not officially part of SXSW. I got into the show tonight for free without a badge. Robert Plant was playing down the street a few clubs and the line was mega long. But wtf cares? Billy was the best show of the night. Just wish more people could have seen it.

Ah... but they will.... this guy's gooood.

Hey Carl, thanks for the review. Gotta get down to Austin next year for the festivities. If you happen to run into a guy named Lorrie Matheson playing down there, say hi from the gang at Veer. It looks like he's got a solo gig at Maggie Mae's on Saturday.

Oh crap, it doesn't say what time on Saturday that Lorrie is playing on Maggie Mae's calendar or on Lorrie's web site. Typical Austin slacker stuff. If you know what time, I will be down there most of the day on Saturday...

Headed to see Billy at Pink Hair Salon...

The guitarist said last night he would give me a playlist, but they took forever loading out and he must have zoned it.

Anyway, Billy played a brand new week old song that they had not practiced much. Before it started he said "if we stop in the middle, just consider it a break down" and one of the guys said, uh, there is a breakdown in this song Billy. And he said... oh yeah.

I dont know the title of the new song, but its not on Pie. They played the Looking at You song second and it was terrific. Then really rocked it on piggyback. Great stuff.

Billy is so nice in person and there were a number of A&R guys there that were excited to talk to him after the show. He definitely blew away the band that followed him... wish he had longer than 45 minutes.

He made a funny joke about the time... someone off stage said he had 9 more minutes, and he said "90 minutes? I am not sure I have that much stuff..." and turned to the band and said, what should we play next? Then asked the audience to pick from two songs.

Good stuff...

I can't find a time for Lorrie's set either. In fact, he's not even listed on the SXSW schedule for Maggie Mae's. I'll keep digging... if I can find out before tomorrow, I'll post it here.

Billy Harvey is our new hero! This guy just made my year. The site is incredibly funny and entertaining and the music just shimmers with originality and freshness. I just copped all 3 cds and the 6 downloads.

I need to go stand by the mailbox now, I hear the postman comin', he may have my billy records! Oh yeah, Bob's site is great too!

Keep 'em flying!

Billy Harvey would be a most welcome addition to your musical world. His songs go from romantic to zany and twisted to a magic carpet transporting you to another time. Please see him live alone or with Bob Schneider. How did I miss the two of them all this time? His web site is a blast that can keep you going for hours... find all the hidden comments and events!

Wow! Great to see the interest happened in the last 9 months! Billy will be playing at the end of the month at Hyde Park Theater in Austin with another good band from San Antonio, Buttercup. Billy is often at the Hole in the Wall on Fridays and at the Saxon Pub on Wednesdays... check the websites. Later, and keep pushing it...
