Since the new Veer Ideas is about sharing ideas, I thought I'd share some of mine in hopes of a little feedback.
I am a student/rookie designer, but I love playing with type .. its starting to seep into my body (and I like it). I've messed with making my own typefaces, but nothing too extravagant—still, I'd like some feedback.

I understand what you mean when you mention "Great Minds of Type lurking around" ... I think can't think of great minds doing much beside lurking. No doubt, the 'old men' typeface (called miter box) is not much more than a decorative font, I think if i ever did use it, it would be for something like a title or poster.

I'm almost afraid to make a comment with all the Great Minds of Type lurking around here, but I'm quite fond of the killer cake face. Like I said before, it's a great k - it's playful and unique but very strong and steady in it's wide stance. I could see Old Men making a good logo, but all the letters seem to be straining to get away from each other and resist being unified into words - not great for conveying messages.
