Award winning Japanese artist-collective TOCHKA recently released the 2007 version of the Pika Pika Lightning Doodle Project. Flashlights are used to tag the air and create simple animations that beautify the air we breathe. A compilation of short works from 2006-2007, this short film is yet another reason to love the night.

My only guess as to how this was done was some kind of stop motion camera that had a slow shutter speed taking frame after frame after frame. That would allow all the colors to blend and of course give you blurry faces and that jerky motion of the people in the background. But to create the characters that they did.... That's nothing short of genius. it's my drawings coming to life and jumping around. I think we all dreamt of that happening to us at least twice.
