The Graphic Design Museum Opens

On June 11th, the first museum dedicated entirely to graphic design was officially inaugurated in Breda, Holland, under the auspices of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

Erik Kessels, of KesselsKramer, has curated the first show at the Graphic Design Museum, “European Championship of Graphic Design” (until September 2008), which invited 11 leading European designers to each conceive a playful interactive exhibit around the cause and effect of graphic design.

Fons Hickmann m23, a renowned design agency based in Berlin lead by Fons Hickmann and Gesine Grotrian-Steinweg, created “Design your Sins”, a confessional booth where museum visitors can confess their sins to a designer who promptly, in real-time, turns them into poster designs, which then become part of the exhibition as “Sins in Progress”.

The museum also houses a permanent collection of important graphic design with historical pieces going back over 100 years.

Their books make the mundane meaningful and magical.

Jens hasn’t created any stuff.
