FAQ: Image Specifications

What are the file requirements for images I submit to Veer Marketplace?

JPEG photos and illustrations
- Resolution: Minimum 1600 x 1200, preferred 3000 x 2000 or larger
- File size: Min. 700 kb; preferred 1 MB or larger; max. 20 MB (compressed sizes)
- Color profile: sRGB or Adobe RGB 1998
- Save at quality level 9 (strikes a good balance between file size and file quality)
- Balanced highlights and shadows
- Avoid up-res’ing files more than 5% from the original in-camera resolution

EPS vector illustrations
- File size: Minimum 150 kilobytes, preferred 300 kilobytes or larger
- EPS format, AI8 compatible
- No open paths
- Avoid gradients that may limit editing flexibility in some software

Do you need to upload JPG previews with your EPS files, or does Veer generate previews from the EPS automatically?

Len Neighbors

Hi Len -

Nope - the system will generate JPEG previews from your .EPS vector files automatically.

I can not see thumbnails of my uploaded eps files. What should I do? They were transferred from snapvillage.

Hi Brian,
I've just submitted my first 10 vectors for approval. My concern is that the thumbnails generated from these eps files are all very dull, the colors all washed-out compared to the actual files. Is there a known problem, and hopefully a simple fix for this?

Thanks

We're investigating this issue. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! We'll have an update soon with further details.

Can I send a JPG preview with my EPS so that my IPTC info can be read? If so, how should I do it?

Thanks

AUGUSTO CABRAL

Hi Augusto -

We don't currently offer the ability to submit JPEGs with IPTC metadata associated with .EPS vector files. We've heard from a few contributors who are also looking for similar functionality - so we're going to investigate ways we can add this.

Thanks,

- Brian

Hi Yewkeo -

Uh-oh - sorry to hear that.
I'll have our team check on the back end and investigate.

Thanks,

Hi Brain:

I have gotten approval for my first 10 illustrations. I have few questions about vector illustration. Can the client buy and download different sizes (from Xmall to EPS) of the vector illustration if I only upload the EPS format to Marketplace? Or will the vector illustration only be sold as vector EPS? I would like the client to have different size options of my vector illustration. How do I upload to solve this?

Now my submission limit is up to 110 images. Will the amount of submission be increasing if I am keeping upload new images,

Thank you for your help!

Hi Yodo -

Yes - we will offer rasterized JPEG versions of .EPS vector files, though this may not be in place right away. Customers will have the ability to choose the format that works best for them.

Submission limits default to 100 - and this is currently static. I believe the 110 you are seeing is a temporary display bug - the limit is actually 100 per week. We will evaluate this limit periodically to make sure we are correctly balancing our ingestion volumes and editing service times.

Best,

- Brian

Hi Brian
My fotos have been rejected saying they are too low in resolution. Since they are all larger than the preferred 3000 x 2000 px I am a bit confused and do not know now, which resolution the pictures should really have to meet your requirements.

Thanks for you help,

Matthias

Hi Matthias -

It sounds like your images may have been resized, or the pixel-level quality of your files was off (we check files at 100% to ensure quality for our customers). I'll look into the specifics of your files further and contact you directly.

Best,

Ok, I'm missing something. My pics were taken with a 5 MP camera. I tried to upload them to the "Contributor" page but I get a message essentially telling me my uploads are below minimum. When I pass the cursor over the pics, they are going about 1024 x 768 in both dimensions and resolution. I tried to raise those numbers via Picasa's export feature where you can change the "pixel" count thinking this enlarges the pic to Veer's standard. That did not work. What do I do now? Can I actually enlarge to the meet the standard or am I just out of luck?

Dexter Tyson

Hi Dexter -

Unfortunately if your original files are at 1074 x 768, there is no way to resize these to meet our minimum threshold without severely compromising image quality. You can always make files smaller, but going the other way (uprezzing beyond 2-3%), generally introduces artifacts and other unpleasantness that our editors are trained to spot.

I would double-check your original files - make sure you aren't looking at cutdowns created in Picasa. Beyond that - best to triple-check your camera's settings to ensure you are shooting at the maximum resolution.

Hope this helps,

- Brian

Hi Brian:

So glad to see my over hundred .EPS files are automatically viewed as JPEG. But I found some of the JPEGs (for viewing) having problems (most are appearing in gradient areas). These are showing a lot of bold grey lines and lose the original color. Please help me to check and make correction one by one. I can do not thing by myself now on your site. or you let me know what can I do.

Veer offers rasterized JPEG versions of .EPS vector files for customers having the ability to choose the format that works best for them. But all my already upload eps files now only sell of .EPS version but no offering rasterized JPEG versions. What can I do?

Thank you for your help!

I uploaded a photo and the property data shows it is sRGB but Veer says it has no color profile...what's up? It's the only one showing that warning.

I too have received a warning about a missing color profile on a non-vector illustration.

I see a few comments on 'color profile' issues and I am apparently new enough at this: WHAT is the solution. I use Corel (awful I know) and my shot has gone through color balancing, and I've worked the colors. I tried to save into the RGB format, but can't up load that to Veer.
PLEASE anyone tell me what to do, I will be grateful.

I have messages for 6 of my 10 that they are missing a color profile. All 10 are shot with the same camera and edited the same way so I am not sure how some could be missing?
