In this corner, Katie Canada of Missouri. And waaaay over in this corner of the world, Tom Huveners of Belgium. We supplied them with six ominous elements and gave them until the clock struck twelve to explore the theme of Midnight.

And the winner, by popular vote, is … Tom Huveners!

Midnight is also called the witching hour — which I thought went perfect with the imagery given to us to use, and for the painting of the woman to be the main focus … as the witch. As the design came together it started to look like a cover design for a book called “The Witching Hour”. I always think designs that break out of a frame are more interesting, so that’s why I brought the hand and the bird into the foreground. I created the frame using the typeface as a design element.

I wanted to use the bird photo as the central theme. I needed to find a way to make it stand out from all other dark images, so I gave it an outline that suggestions stars or a constellation. The rest of the images convey the theme quite well without words, so I only used the letters as a textual element. I hope you like it!
